What is Live in Care?

Live-In Care is a process which allows an individual to remain within the premises of their own homes whilst receiving the best possible care 24 hours, 7 days a week. This process is imperative in providing an individual with abilities and resources to enjoy life as independently as possible from within the premises and comfort of their own homes.

A Live-In Carer may assist a service user in the following areas

  • Companionship – sharing conversation and spending time together
  • Personal care – assisting with bathing, dressing and, when necessary, continence support
  • Helping with mobility – some customers need assistance getting around the home
  • Overseeing medication – all according to the customer’s care plan
  • Household chores – help around the home, such as vacuuming or washing clothes
  • Preparing and cooking meals
  • Running errands – assisting with tasks such as shopping or picking up prescriptions
  • Other medical support – extra training is provided for more complex support needs as well as first aid training

It takes a special kind of person to be a carer. A good carer is someone who truly cares about others and is not just earning a living. This is a special job, and it needs special people to do it and we at Aetos Health Care pride ourselves on working with the best.

Personalised Live in Care

Three stage process

There are three stages to be successfully fulfilled in order to ensure safety for all affiliated parties as well as the best possible service for the service user including continuity of care. The three stages are:

  • Initial assessment
  • Searching and matching a suitable carer
  • Regular and through checks once service provision begins.

Initial Assessment

  • The initial assessment is one where Aetos Health Care introduces itself to a service user and vice versa.
  • A thorough assessment of the service user will be conducted whereby the health, lifestyle, dietary habits as well as the living conditions will be assessed.
  • Aetos Health Care will reassure this is done as professionally as possible with as much discretion as possible.

Searching for a suitable carer

  • Matching the most appropriate carer with the service user is one of the most important aspects of Live-In Care.
  • A service user will state which type of person they are looking for (specialised care needs, certain level of experience, etc.)
  • Aetos Health Care is committed in prioritising that both service users and carers are extremely happy and understand each other

Constant and consistent checks

  • As per company policy, Aetos Health Care will endeavour to make consistent checks (fortnightly by telephone as well as regular visits to the placement itself including spot checks).
  • This will ensure that the service user is satisfied with the Live in carer, the carer is satisfied in the placement and that there is a continuity of care
  • This will also ensure your well being and assist the care manager in assessing any change in your care needs.
